What We Make

Photonics Components, Built to Spec

We think in parts, not processes. If your optical assembly needs it, we've likely made it — or can.

Why Photonics Orders Fail

The Problems We're Built to Prevent

Generic machine shops treat an optical mount like any other bracket. These are the mistakes that result.

Surface Finish

A bore machined to the wrong finish contaminates your optical assembly.

Photonics bores need Ra 0.4μm or better — and sometimes electropolished surfaces for optical contact. A supplier who doesn't flag this will hit your tolerance but ruin the assembly.

We specify Ra and finish requirements during DFM — before manufacture, not after.
Coating Compatibility

The wrong anodize type interferes with optical coatings and cement adhesion.

Type III hard anodize and Type II clear anodize are not interchangeable in optical environments. Most suppliers apply whatever is standard. The difference shows up in the lab, not in the spec sheet.

We confirm anodize type, thickness, and masking requirements for every optical part.
Tolerance Stack-Up

Each part passes inspection. The assembled system is out of alignment.

Photonics assemblies stack tolerances across multiple components. A supplier who reviews one part at a time won't catch stack-up errors that only appear at integration.

Our engineers review multi-part assemblies for stack-up during DFM — not just individual parts.

Our Process

How a Photonics Order Works at Factorem

From STEP file to delivered part — with optical-specific review at every stage.

1

Upload STEP File + Drawing

STEP, IGES, or 2D drawing accepted. Include surface finish callouts and any assembly context. Quote returned within 24–48 hours. NDA available on request.

2

Engineering DFM — Optical-Specific Review

Your dedicated engineer reviews bore finish, anodize type, tolerance stack, and assembly fit — not just whether the part can be machined. Issues are flagged before a single chip is cut.

3

Material + Finish Selection Confirmed

We confirm alloy grade, anodize type and thickness, masking requirements, and any special handling before order confirmation. No assumptions — everything documented in the work order.

4

Manufacture + In-Process QC

5-axis CNC machining with in-process dimensional checks. CMM inspection on critical features. Surface finish verified at source — not on arrival at your lab.

5

Delivered with Full Documentation

CMM inspection report, material certificate (EN 10204 3.1), finish spec confirmation, and dimensional report ship with every order. 12-day standard. Tracked to your door.
