What We Make
We think in parts, not processes. If your optical assembly needs it, we've likely made it — or can.

Upload for reviewWhy Photonics Orders Fail
Generic machine shops treat an optical mount like any other bracket. These are the mistakes that result.
Photonics bores need Ra 0.4μm or better — and sometimes electropolished surfaces for optical contact. A supplier who doesn't flag this will hit your tolerance but ruin the assembly.
Type III hard anodize and Type II clear anodize are not interchangeable in optical environments. Most suppliers apply whatever is standard. The difference shows up in the lab, not in the spec sheet.
Photonics assemblies stack tolerances across multiple components. A supplier who reviews one part at a time won't catch stack-up errors that only appear at integration.
Our Process
From STEP file to delivered part — with optical-specific review at every stage.
STEP, IGES, or 2D drawing accepted. Include surface finish callouts and any assembly context. Quote returned within 24–48 hours. NDA available on request.
Your dedicated engineer reviews bore finish, anodize type, tolerance stack, and assembly fit — not just whether the part can be machined. Issues are flagged before a single chip is cut.
We confirm alloy grade, anodize type and thickness, masking requirements, and any special handling before order confirmation. No assumptions — everything documented in the work order.
5-axis CNC machining with in-process dimensional checks. CMM inspection on critical features. Surface finish verified at source — not on arrival at your lab.
CMM inspection report, material certificate (EN 10204 3.1), finish spec confirmation, and dimensional report ship with every order. 12-day standard. Tracked to your door.
"Factorem's engineering team identified a DFM issue that would have caused rework on our first batch. That single review saved us three weeks and significant cost."

FAQ
We hold ±0.005mm as standard for optical housings, kinematic stages, and lens mounts. Critical optical interfaces requiring sub-micron alignment can be machined to ±0.002mm on request.
Standard surface roughness Ra 0.4–1.6μm is included. Ra 0.1μm is achievable with additional processing for reflective or mating optical surfaces. Black hard anodising is available for stray-light suppression in optical enclosures.
AL 6061-T6 and AL 7075-T6 for standard housings; Invar 36 for thermally stable mounts where CTE matching to glass is required; SS 316L for corrosive or cleanroom environments; PEEK for electrical isolation. We can also process titanium for space-grade components.
All files are encrypted at rest and in transit. NDAs are available before file upload. Only engineers assigned to your quote see your files — designs are never shared with third parties without written authorisation.
CNC-machined photonics prototypes typically ship in 5–10 business days. SLA and resin 3D-printed parts are available in 3–5 days. Rush lead times can be arranged — contact us to discuss your deadline.
